The Nelson's: January 2009

For New Year's...well, the Saturday after New Year's, we had the grand opportunity to go to Disney's Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom for FREE!! One of our good friends works for Disney, so she got us in with "park hopper passes" which means, we got to go to any of the 4 parks all day long! So, we chose Animal Kingdom and the Magic Kingdom.

We had such a blast!! It was Baylee's first time, Brayden's 2nd time, Tim's 3rd time and my One Millionth time going to Disney. We had the kids close their eyes when we got close to Disney property so that they wouldn't know where we were going. All they knew was we were going somewhere "special". They were SOOO excited to open their eyes and see that we were at Animal Kingdom. Now, this was ALL of our first time going to Animal Kingdom and it was the coolest park! We went on an African Safari and saw some really neat animals. We had an Ostrich that chased our Safari vehicle and he tried to reach out and peck a passenger! It was quite hilarious! We saw West Nile Crocs that were 16 - 20 feet long! It was so scary and they were about 10 feet from us!

At lunch time, we left Animal Kingdom and headed over to the Magic Kingdom. Baylee was so excited to see Cinderella's castle and to see all of the Disney characters that she recognized from movies. Brayden & Baylee were able to have some of the characters sign their autograph books, which was one of the highlights of their day! They had different parades throughout the day which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. We stayed late to watch the fireworks and they were amazing! They lite the castle up with so many different colors and had icicle lights over it and it was gorgeous! We had so much fun and I'm so thankful that our friend Tonya allowed us to have such a wonderful day together as a family with her perks at Disney! Thanks Tonya!!

A Little Bit About The Nelson's

On June 12th, 1999, Tim and I met on LDS Matchmaker online. Two days later, we spoke on the phone for the first time. After spending a couple weeks talking on the phone and online, I decided I had to meet this guy! So in August, I bought a plane ticket and flew from Florida to Las Vegas to meet Tim. When I got off the plane, I was pleasantly surprised to see this super cute tall guy that I couldn't live my life without! I stayed in Vegas for 10 days and while I was there, we talked about getting married. When I came home, my mom and I started planning the wedding! In October, Tim flew to Florida to meet my family. While Tim was here, he proposed to me and I was so happy and excited! I couldn't keep my hot lips off him!! Then at the end of November, I flew back to Vegas with my wedding dress in tow and spent Thanksgiving with my soon to be husband. While there (only the 3rd time we'd seen each other) we got married in the Las Vegas NV LDS Temple, on December 3, 1999. My parent's joined us for the wedding and it was a wonderful freezing cold day. We decided to live in Las Vegas for a while. On Valentine's week, I found out I was pregnant with our son, Brayden. He was born on November 3, 2000 (1 month early). Then in March 2001, I couldn't stand being that far away from my family anymore, so we moved to Columbia, SC where we lived for the next 3 1/2 years. While in Columbia, we had our baby girl, Baylee, born on July 25, 2003. After Baylee was born, we wanted to be even closer to my family, so we decided to move to Florida. We moved to Casselberry, FL 2 weeks before Hurricane Charley hit and it was Tim's first hurricane. We were terrified, especially when the tree fell on my mom & dad's house and we were house-sitting! So, we were quickly welcomed into Florida with 3 hurricanes back-to-back that summer! But, we have been back for over 4 years now and we love it here! We wouldn't trade Florida for the world!
